Video Everywhere

Video is projected to outpace all other content forms in the upcoming years. Nonprofits with a combination of creativity, production skills and original stories will benefit from developing video marketing strategies.

Here are three reasons why nonprofits of every size will need to include video in their repetoire of storytelling and toolkits of making a case for donations.

  1. 82% -  Video traffic will be 82 percent of all consumer Internet traffic by 2021.  (Cisco Systems, 2017). 
  2. 80% - Forbes reports that by 2019 — 80% of online marketing will be video content. And that mobile appetite for video is currently increasing 100% annually (Craig, 2018).
  3. 90% - 90% of consumers reported that videos helped them decide whether or not they would purchase a product (Why video matters to marketing | WebpageFX.2018). While this is an ecommerce statistic, it is one that nonprofits who are looking ahead shouldn't ignore when exploring ways to make a case for our donations 

The Fast Forward for NonProfits

Alongside the usual social media players — all of who facilitate video content delivery — YouTube’s Impact Lab and Youtube Creators of Change are entirely devoted to enabling video content ecosystems for nonprofit and social change organizations.

Attention to videos with authentic voice will be rewarded by donors.  In the years to come nonprofits will connect with exponentially more people through mobile video. And with a thoughtful video engagement to donation funnel, they will see more donations than without video.

But is there a flipside to videomania?

With video on its way to saturating the mediascape, will our responsiveness and appetite for this type of storytelling from nonprofit companies change?
